It can now be revealed...

Now that the gift wrap has been torn asunder, I can share a few gifts that I made for my family. Painting has been on the back burner for a few weeks as I have been busy with these other projects.

For my oldest daughter, a little embroidery hoop design using a piece of toile left over from a sundress I made for her some 20+ years ago:

"You eat MY boogers" is, of course, one of our favorite put downs from the TV show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

For my middle child, a weaving to hide some outlets and cords on the wall of her apartment:

And for my son, the Environmental Policy student, a more nature-themed weaving with a little gold leaf because gold leaf is so irresistible:

For other family members, I made some dish towels with a gingko print design I cut from linoleum block and a simple running stitch edging:

While I have really enjoyed working on these projects, it has taken me away from painting for a bit. With the holidays nearly behind us it is time for me to refocus and create the mental and physical space needed for a regular painting practice. The new year feels like the right time to figure out how to make that happen.
